If your gonna bring back a classic do it properly not wreck it. i loved capri’s till i saw this it’s gonna completely change the whole look of capri’s i’ll stick with the older “muscle car” shape myself this model just looks like a mondeo, ka, fiesta, and all other modern cars talk about ” break the mold”

Yeah have to agree Paul, i have a 1970 Capri and this “remake” is a bit of an soul-less insult to the original – think they are trying to do a GTI/Scirocco counter with a Focus ST/Capri angle if you know what i mean. If the guys at Ford can pull this remake off propperly i’ll buy one no-doubt. The intakes infront of the rear wheels need to be present and even the horizontal line the original had need to be replicated -somehow at least.

If ford are going to re do the capri then do the follow:

Take the new ford mustangs and make it slightly smaller.
add a capri style body kit and bingo.

its so wrong, how can they call that a capri, ive got a 1984 mk3, if you rocked up at a capri show in that you would be laughed out the arena, if there going to redo the capri, they need to copy the original features and give it a modern twist, but not this, its crap

Got all excited when He Who Must Be Obeyed mentioned he’d heard Ford were relaunching the Capril. That was til I just saw it. What a travesty, to mess with such an iconic vehicle. Can’t somehow see the re-designed model being much of a hit.

I think this is a typically disgusting modern mass produced European design. Why do all new hatchbacks look like estate cars? And a front wheel drive Capri, thats ridiculous. No one will buy this.

Wouldn’t it be fairly cheap just to slightly re-design the current Mustang to look more like a Capri. Use the new Mustang V6 engine as the flagship Capri engine which is economical and plenty quick enough. And make a 4 cylinder option using the 2.3 Duratec engine which will work with rear wheel drive because I believe they fit versions of that engine in the Mazda MX5. Also they could even do a diesel option using the PSA V6 diesel used in the Jaguar’s and Land Rover’s. The Mustang may be considered simple and dated with its live rear axle but it still handles superbly and thats part of why it can be made cheaply and affordable for most people. Surely this is the obvious basis for a spiritual and sucessful sucessor to the Capri.

Anyway thats just my idea. I think this current front wheel drive estate car looking Ford design is disgusting and if produced should definitely not be badged as a Capri.

I have to agree with all of you. Front wheel drive???? Wheres the fun in that? But please don’tfollow the Mustang looks again, I had too much of that in the 80′s. I would have liked to see a mid engine, loose the back seat, and keep the classic lines.
