Official details for new 2010 BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo Revealed (photos and video)

After the new BMW 5-Series GT (Gran Turismo) was previewed for the first time as concept car at the Geneva Motor Show in March we get the official press release with full details.

Under the cover, BMW has announced 3 different engine variants to found with. The 3.0 liter turbo-diesel is what BMW is with to sell the GT’s fuel saving and ecological credentials. The 530d Gran Turismo, with 245 hp and 540 Nm of torque, comes with a fuel consumption rating of only 6.5 liters/100 km and a CO2 emissions rating of 173 g/km.

On the more muscular boundary come the 535i and the 550i variants. The 535i comes with BMW’s new running-six gasoline/gasoline engine, a 3.0 liter 6-cylinder Twin-turbo with 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The 550i will mark BMW’s powerhouse 4.4 liter, twin-turbo V8 gasoline/petrol dominance lodge with 407 hp and 600 Nm of boulevard-grinding torque.

Production Version of the new 2010 BMW 5-Series GT Teased on Video

BMW gave us the first preview of the production-ready version of the new 5-Series GT (Gran Turismo) Concept vehicle. Compared to the Geneva concept car, not much has changed on the outside as the only significant differences seem to concern the conventional exterior mirrors and alloy wheels. The interior however is another story as BMW toned down the design and removed the funky trim options in favor of a more production-style look.  the 5-Series GT that will be officially introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.

The body of the 2010 5-series GT skin a mix of elements from crossover, hatchback and cart bodystyles, melding them together to construct something that is relatively single in the automotive world. While the styling may not be to everybody’s test, BMW insists there is a bazaar for a premium carriage with an auto-like profile and enough of innovative storeroom solutions. A take on the renowned Hofmeister hook can be found at the rear of the graphic line, spinning a very non-classical BMW profile into something more recognizable.
