New 2008 Opel Insignia Leaked (photo)

Dutch car magazine Auto Week has blown the Opel Insignia embargo from the water supply, but not like car enthusiasts with the official figures. The car may be, the seven pictures on its website that the official press release should follow later this week.

Break embargo seems to be a favourite pass-time for many print magazines and the new Opel Insignia, for a British International Motor Show debut this summer as Vauxhall Insignia, is no exception. On the bright side, Opel may now be inclined to release the official figures and complete picture gallery earlier.

The Opel Insignia will compete in the fiercely competitive segment D along with the new Ford Mondeo, Mazda 6, Renault Laguna and VW Passat. The new Insignia is the successor to the Opel Vectra and was first seen the GTC concept at the Geneva Motor Show 2007.

As already mentioned, there are no official figures, but we can risk a guess, the engines will be available. Starting with 1.6 and 2.0-litre turbo 250 PS and 2.8-litre V6 petrol engines, a 1.9-litre diesel and 1.9-litre turbo-diesel (power ranges from 120 to 180 hp). A 2.9-litre V6 diesel is expected to follow later, during an OPC version by the end of May with 300 hp.
