The first official image of the new Opel Ampera has revealed. The car is destined to be the European styled Chevrolet Volt provided by GM. The new Ampera as it will be debuting on March 3rd at the Geneva Motor Show and planned for launch in Europe in 2011.

The new Ampera is a 5-door, 4-seat hatch powered by GM’s Voltec bung-in cross scheme and is said to have a scale of 60 km running only on the lithium-ion string. An interior combustion engine acts as a generator to re-charge the batteries which GM/Opel claims will give the car an impressive complete span of 500 km. The Ampera’s string can be re-exciting through any 230 volt electrical means.

Design on the Ampera’s production edition will prone be close to what we’ve seen from metaphors that have been released so far and the spy shots from a join of weeks ago. Of tone are the obvious sketch cues taken from the Flexstream concept car, as well as the Opel Insignia which deferred last year won European Car the Year honor, screening that the Ampera is aiming for an absolute Opel styling identity making it far minus likely to be seen easily as a re-badged Chevy Volt.
