Tuning: Ferrari California Spider by Edo Competition (details and photos)

German tuner Edo Competition that specialized on supercars has revealed their performance and styling accessories for Ferrari California Spider. Modifications to the 4.3-liter V8 engine compose a recalibrated ECU and a possible newly-urbanized high performance exhaust order featuring adjustable butterfly valves and custom intended high emanate catalytic converters with a 200 unit per clear crawl metal self.

The result is an additional 40 horsepower and 12-lb/ft for a calculate yield of 500HP and 369 ft-lb of torque at 5,200 rpm. The Edo Competition-tuned California Spider can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds and achieve a top hurry of 315 km/h or 196 mph (+5km/h compared to the factory brand).

2009 International Engine of the Year Results: VW 1.4-liter TSI Twincharger wins Award

Volkswagen‘s innovative 1.4-liter TSI Twincharger engine wins the 2009 International Engine of the Year, beating out BMW’s potent 3.0-liter instruct-injected twin-turbo six-cylinder powerplant by just four points. The Twincharged 1.4 liter TSI also won both the 1.0 to 1.4 liter engine category and the honor of the Green Engine of the Year, beating out the Japanese hybrid power rivals from Toyota and Honda’s 1.3-liter IMA fusion powertrain.

The Engie of the Year gift is handed out based on the voting fallout of 65 motor scribes polled from all around the sphere. Some 32 countries are represented in the jury, plus the U.S., Japan, China, Germany, the U.K., and Korea.

New BMW M Supercar Concept: A Main Competitor for an Audi R8 (photos)?!

Idries Noah, who formerly employed by GM Holden’s design band ‘3D automotive artists‘ in Australia has rendered his own imagining of what a BMW M concept proposal for an Audi R8 rival would look like. Of course, this is an entirely speculative rendering that has nothing to do with BMW itself.

Recall that BMW produced its first and last mid-engined supercar, the M1, and even though the Bavarian firm raised expectations with the introduction of the M1 Homage Concept at last year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the company has no official plans to resurrect the famous nameplate.
