New Porsche 918 Spyder Sports Plug-in Hybrid Concept Revealed in Geneva (photos and video)

Porsche has unveiled a striking concept car, the new 918 Spyder, at the special pre-show event in Geneva. The mid-engined sports car has introduced as the new “ecology vs. performance” issue.

The 918 Spyder “Super-Sports” concept is powered by both a 500-horsepower V8 and a pair of electric motors (one for each axle) producing an additional 218 hp or 160kW. On the ecological surface it is talented of 3.0 litres/100 kilometers (94 mpg imp / 78 mpg US) with just 70 grams of CO2 emissions per kilometer. Volkswagen Up! Lite Diesel-Electric Hybrid Concept Revealed at the 2009 LA Auto Show

The new Volkswagen Up! Lite Concept has revealed at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show. The VW company say it’s the most fuel-efficient car in the world. The Up! Lite is sincerely a precise wing of the L1 Concept that has unveiled in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The new VW Up! Lite Concept powered by two sources. The first is a 2-cylinder 0.8-litre TDI engine making 38kW (51hp) at 4,000rpm and 120Nm between 1,800rpm and 2,250rpm. The other is a 10kW (14hp) electric motor working with a lithium-ion battery. Together they produce a 65hp.

New Subaru Hybrid Tourer Concept Revealed Ahead of Tokyo Motor Show

Subaru has introduced the newest Hybrid Tourer Concept that will be debut at the upcoming 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. The concept powered by a hybrid engine that combines a 2.0-liter direct-injection turbo petrol engine and the Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system with an electric motor at each axle and a high-performance lithium battery.

Power is primarily provided by the boxer engine that is connected to a new generation Lineatronic CVT (continually variable transmission). New Kia Forte LPI Hybrid Revealed in South Korea (details + photos)

Today, Kia Motors unveiled its first-ever production hybrid model, the new Kia Forte LPI Hybrid. The car will make its world debut at the 2009 Seoul Motor Show and scheduling to go on sale in Korea this August. The new Forte sedan can run on both Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)– a common fuel in Korea – and electricity.

The new LPI Hybrid is equipped with a 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder Gamma LPI HEV engine producing a crop of 114-horsepower and an utmost torque cost of 15.1 kg/m. The Korean automaker claims that when shared to a CVT transmission, the Forte LPI Hybrid has a fuel efficiency of 17.2km per litre of LPG. To better understand what this means, when converted to a flag gasoline engine that build would be 21.5km/liter that translates to 50.6mpg US, 60.7mpg UK or 4.7lt /100 km.

New 2010 Toyota Prius Hybrid Unveiled in Detroit

Toyota unveils the third-generation  Prius hybrid at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. Its higher fuel economy is nearly 25% better than the first generation Prius. The 50mpg car features a hybrid system with over 90% new parts when compared to the last kind.

Fisker Karma plug-in Hybrid Previewed Ahead Of Detroit Auto Show

Fisker Automotive has confirmed that it will shown for the first time in full production of the Karma plug-in hybrid at the Detroit Auto Show as scheduled.


The Fisker Karma‘s turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine produces 260 horsepower, and coupled with the large 22.6 kWh Li-Ion battery is good for a reported 5.8-following 0-60 run, a 125-mph top tempo and a shared 408 horsepower. The Karma has a 50-mile bursting-thrilling limit, and the ability to typical 100mpg.

New Saab 9X Air Concept Previewed ahead Paris

This is the first images of an open top version of the Saab 9X Hybrid, called 9X Air. No aspect details are known about this vehicle, but the open top takes more of a speedster look to it sooner than the more conventional convertible body tailors.

The new idea follows the 9X BioHybrid Concept which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show prior, receiving a varied effect. On one hand we had a great looking exemplar which supposedly previews the 9-1 production car, but on the other hand it was a view created on the shoddy – nothing other than a body bombard mold which you can do little more than look at it.

New Honda Insight Hybrid Revealed ahead Paris Motor Show

The Japanese automaker Honda has officially released the first photos of its all-new “Prius-fighter” hybrid called Insight. Although the Japanese visitors has labeled the Insight as a theory car, don’t supposed to see many differences on the production typical that’s slated to go on selling globally in mid-2009.

Clearly, the stylistic inspiration for the Insight was Honda’s fuel-cubicle powered FCX Clarity.
